Review: Flexispot’s Standing Desk Pro Stands Out

Standing desks, in many ways, feel like the most radical shift in working since the invention of the computer. Moving away from traditional, chair-based desks to a standing desk can do wonders for your physical health. Yet, standing desks can still be a little on the pricey side of things. We were particularly taken with Flexispot’s standing desk, ranking it one of our top choices for standing desks. The brand sent over a desk for review, and we’re pretty pleased with the results after about a month or so of testing.

What We Liked

The Flexispot shipping their standing desk to us in two different parts, the actual legs and the table itself. Putting together the unit is pretty straightforward and took about 45 minutes to totally unbox and piece everything together. The packaging was well-labeled and clear to understand which bolts went where. The leg base is heavy and extremely sturdy, making me feel much more comfortable about putting a monitor or two on top of it. Additionally, the unit provided for review was the 60″ x 30″ model, which yielded a considerable amount of desktop real estate. I could easily fit two monitors, my laptop, and a desk organizer on the surface with no issue or without feeling like it was too cluttered. The bamboo topper feels strong and supportive, making it, so I was never worried about putting too much on top of it.

When it comes to the actual standing portion of the desk, the included adjuster makes it easy to adjust the desk up to a little over 47 inches. For me, at a staggering 6’6″, that means I can fit my legs underneath without having to feel like I’m folding myself into a shorter desk. Additionally, the height of the desk itself, when fully extended, isn’t too short for me to have a great standing experience either. Raising the desk takes no more than about 20 seconds of continuous button pressing. However, the controller also includes handy height presets you can use with just the push of a button. It even includes a timer to remind you to raise or lower the desk, which is great when you’re in the middle of work and forget to adjust.

What We Didn’t Like

Despite the clear labeling on the bags of parts, putting the desk together was a little tough to understand at times due to some unclear directions —specifically in how you were supposed to piece together the legs. It wasn’t a huge extra add-on in terms of time (I still got the whole thing built in about 45 minutes) but it definitely required me to look a little closer than I would have with something from, say, Ikea. Additionally, this particular unit doesn’t come with any storage or a back panel to better hide the lifter power cord. These are minor quibbles in what is an otherwise really strong and compelling product, but I had to mention them all the same.

The Verdict: Flexispot Adjustable Standing Desk Pro is a Fantastic Standing Desk

Getting a quality, well-made standing desk doesn’t have to be the overwhelming investment you may think it is. With Flexispot’s Pro offering, you’re getting a desk that should completely and totally satisfy all of your standing desk needs, even if there are some minor things you’d wish were included.
